If it does not work out: no long contract; monthly management ends with the notice period in your quote owner to confirm: 30 days. If the agreed test period shows search cannot reach your target cost per enquiry, I say so in writing and suggest where the budget works harder. The account, conversions and history stay yours.

When Google Ads is the wrong first step

Search ads catch demand that already exists. If that demand, the budget or the page is missing, spend goes elsewhere first.

  • 01Nobody searches for what you sell yet, because the product or category is new. Demand has to be created first, for example with Meta Ads or TikTok Ads.
  • 02The budget is under about €300 a month in a market where clicks cost several euros. Too few clicks to learn from; SEO or local SEO usually does more with the same money.
  • 03The landing page is slow or vague, or enquiries are not tracked. Fix the landing page and the tracking first, otherwise Google optimises towards clicks.

Questions about Google Ads

How much should I spend on Google Ads?

For most local and B2B services, start with at least €500 a month in ad spend, paid to Google from your own account. That buys enough clicks to see which searches turn into enquiries. Competitive terms such as legal or finance need more. If your budget is too small for your market, I say so before you spend anything.

How soon will I see leads?

Often within the first two weeks, once tracking is tested and the campaign is live, if people already search for what you sell. The first four to eight weeks are for learning: reading search terms, cutting waste and adjusting bids. Cost per enquiry usually settles after that, but no timing is guaranteed.

Do you work with Performance Max?

Yes, when it fits. Performance Max suits online stores with a clean product feed and enough conversions to learn from; for lead generation I usually start with Search, where you see the actual search terms. When I run it, I add brand exclusions, negative keywords and asset groups split by margin. More on the Shopping and Performance Max page.
