Not covered by any plan

  • Bugs in your site's code, theme or plugins. That is a website care plan or developer work.
  • Hosting, licence and add-on fees. You pay the provider and cPanel or other vendors directly.
  • Malware clean-up after a hack: quoted separately, from €249 per site, see hardening and cleanup.
  • Migrations to a new server, unless the migration credit add-on has covered it.
  • Round-the-clock on-call. Monitoring never sleeps; the response times above are the promise.
  • Windows servers, desktop support and third-party email services such as hosted office suites.

One page, every month

The report says what happened, what changed and what is coming, in sentences rather than graphs. It follows the plan you built above.

Everything in it is a sample: the server, the dates and the numbers are invented to show the format.

Monthly server report

sample
In one line
A quiet month: one disk alert, handled within 4 business hours; all updates applied; backups restored on test.
Alerts
12 Oct 14:05: /home passed 90%. Handled at 16:40 the same day; old log archives moved off the disk, usage back to 71%. Log rotation fixed so it does not recur.
Patching
Four weekly windows, 23 packages updated. Kernel reboot on 27 Oct at 06:10, down for 4 minutes, every site checked afterwards.
Backups
31 nightly off-site snapshots, all verified. Spot-check on 15 Oct: the shop restored to staging in 6 minutes and opened correctly.
Disk
/ at 41%, /home at 71% after the clean-up. Growth about 3 GB a month.
Security
SSH accepts keys only; 1,204 password attempts were refused. No panel logins from new countries. Two moderate notices left for the 3 Nov window.
Next month
Two sites still run PHP 8.2, which stops receiving security fixes at the end of 2026. I suggest moving them to PHP 8.4 on staging first, then live.

Admin time used: 40 minutes of 1 hour. No extra hours billed.

Starting a care plan

The first month includes a baseline, so the first report compares against facts, not guesses.

  1. 1

    Baseline

A full health check of each server, written up. Its €290 fee is credited if you start a plan within 30 days. owner to confirm

  2. 2

    Access

You add my SSH key and a WHM login if there is a panel. Everything stays in your name and is removable at any time.

  3. 3

    Wire it up

Monitoring, alert addresses, off-site backups and the weekly patch window agreed and switched on.

  4. 4

    First report

At the end of the first month, the one-page report with the baseline next to it.

Nobody has logged in to your server this month? Make it someone's job.

When a care plan is not worth it

Paying every month for a server that needs nothing is not care.

  • 01Your site lives on shared hosting. The host already patches the server; a website care plan covers what is left.
  • 02You need guaranteed response at 3 a.m. with penalties in the contract. That needs a staffed team on shifts, and I will say so.
  • 03The server will be retired within three months. A one-off migration is the better spend.

Questions about server care plans

What is covered in a plan?

Monitoring of services, disk, load and certificates; a weekly patch window with planned reboots; nightly backup checks and a monthly restore spot-check; log and security review; and a one-page report every month. Small admin requests are included up to the plan's monthly time. The table above lists exactly what is not covered.

Is there 24/7 on-call?

No. Monitoring runs all the time, but I respond in Finnish business hours: next business day on Essential, within four business hours on Business. A priority option with out-of-hours response exists only by written agreement, because a one-person studio should not promise cover it cannot keep.

Can I mix a plan with hourly support?

Yes. The plan covers the recurring work; bigger jobs, such as a migration, a PHP upgrade across many sites or a malware clean-up, are quoted separately or billed at €95 an hour, plus 50 % out of hours (proposed). Plan clients are scheduled first, and every hour appears in the monthly report.
